The Joint Emergency Planning Unit (JEPU)
Local authority emergency planning in Suffolk is organised by a joint unit provided by Suffolk District, Borough and County Councils.
The Beccles Community Emergency Plan
Beccles Town Council has developed an emergency plan with the help of volunteers and with the support of the JEPU.
In conjunction with the JEPU this plan will be put into effect in the event of a major emergency affecting Beccles, such as severe flooding.
Potential Rest Centres have been identified for use by residents it they have to evacuate their properties and need temporary shelter.
In a major emergency information will be posted on the Town Council website and on the noticeboard outside the Town Hall. Contact will be made with Radio Suffolk.
A Community Emergency Co-ordination Centre will operate.
