Beccles Common

The Fenland Trust is the landowner of Beccles Common. The Common is a freely available public space for residents and visitors to use for recreation, and it is a very popular dog walking spot. It is also an important habitat, being one of the largest areas of acid grassland in the county.

As well as public access for walking and recreation, the Common is used for grazing by Common Rights holders, and is also the home of a 9-hole golf course.

The Trust seeks to manage the Common to try to ensure that the various uses of the area are complimentary rather than conflicting. See out tree management strategy for the Common, written by our Ranger and agreed by full Trust in April 2025: Beccles common tree management strategy
