Planning Applications

The Town Council is a statutory consultee for all planning applications in the town. There are two planning authorities for Beccles: East Suffolk Council are responsible for applications in most of the town, but a small number of streets alongside the river, including some of Puddingmoor, Northgate, Fen Lane and George Westwood Way, are in the Broads Authority area, and planning applications for these are dealt with by Broads Authority.

The Town Council has a Planning Committee, which meets twice per month to consider planning applications and to give the Council’s opinion; however, the decision as to whether to grant permission lies with East Suffolk Council or Broads Authority.
