Waveney Meadow

Owned and maintained by Beccles Town Council, Waveney Meadow is a green open space in Puddingmoor, with a small stretch of the riverbank and free public car park,

Beccles Town Council, along with the Townlands Trust, is embarking on a project to enhance Waveney Meadow’s beauty and functionality. Recognising its importance to the community, the Council is grateful for the Trust’s substantial support and a grant of £22,000 from East Suffolk Council’s Local Community Infrastructure Fund.

The goal is to transform Waveney Meadow into an even more vibrant space for recreation and wildlife. Initial surveys confirm the feasibility of their plans, and riverside improvements are already underway.

What’s to come

A Fun Zone for Young Adventurers:

Little ones aged 4-8 will have a blast with new play equipment like swings, slides, and a climbing frame, all nestled within a charming wooden fence.

Enhanced Accessibility:

New paths will lead to the play area and the riverbank, with hopes for a raised walkway for year-round access to the riverside.

A Haven for Wildlife:

The existing wildlife area on the north side will be preserved with its circular pathway. A low hedge will separate it from the main grassy area, while a new native hedge will screen the pumping station, fostering biodiversity.

A Touch of Nature:

Planting of new small trees is planned, along with the possibility of removing some existing firs for better space utilization.
